Year End Mashups 2014

So it's that time again where we exchange gifts, prepare scrumptious foods, get together, forget the bad things and cherish the good, and enjoy.

But one of the things I love about December is the year end reviews. I just love looking back the best (and the worst) things that happened recently this year. from movies, gossips, celebrities and, of course, music.

It was around 2009 when I heard a mashup. and it was from DJ Earworm. but I never liked it at that time. around 2011, DJ Earworm made me appreciate mashups.

Mashups were first born in 2007. and now 7 years has past, different mashups come out on YouTube.

Now, I'm going to give you my top 5 mashups of 2014, which each of my comments.

5. United States of Pop 2014 (Do What You Wanna)- DJ Earworm

It wasn't bad since he made up the bad mashup he did last year. but the one thing I love about this Mashup is that he has the sense of originality and knows the word, "mashup".

4. Pop Love 3- Robin Skouteris

The bad thing about his mashup is that it's quite long, since it only consists of an almost 12 minutes. Though one thing that surprised me is that he included Conchita Wurst. but he did a good effort.

3. Pop Danthology 2014- Daniel Kim
To be honest, he was the only person I'm expecting to top off. but as I listen to it many times, It was a bit meh. but the mashup of Fancy, Talk Dirty and Turn Down was my fave.

2. Replay 2014 mashup (Let Go)- DJ Dreamport
The one thing I noticed in this mashup is that the only instrumental he mixes is Shake it Off. Plus the lyrics are good.

1. 2014 Anthem- Squiller
In all honesty, this has beat down EVERY SINGLE MASHUP!!! Nice transitions and not much thrown out. JUST AWESOME AND SUPERB!

As 2014 ends, I'm waiting for the 2015 yearend mashup. and I wish it would be good.

Big Hero 6 (2014)

Just this Tuesday we finally watched one of the best Disney- Pixar movie EVER. and that is Big Hero 6.

I first heard of the movie around April or May, where they released the teaser for the movie. Somehow, I found out that this was a Manga before and Disney decided to made a movie out of it. Of course, changing the names of the characters to the plot.

The movie revolves around a 14 year old boy named Hiro Hamada who lives in San Fransokyo (A crossover of San Francisco, USA and Tokyo, Japan.), together with his big brother, Tadashi Hamada. What he does is make robots and enter illegal competitions. Tadashi, worried about what his life gonna be in the future, changes his brother attitude by taking him to "Nerd School", as Hiro would put it. After he meets his brother's friends and his invention, Baymax, an inflatable nurse-aid robot, he decides to enter his school. but he must create an invention that can impress the Judges. And it did. However, it ended up disastrous. He got depressed right after the incident, then Baymax appears to fix him, physically and emotionally. but they both found out that his invention he presented was stolen and was going to do something bad about it. He decides to capture the man behind the "Kabuki" mask, with a help of his new friends and Baymax.

Okay so here's what I'm going to say about the film. It's really hilarious and really a tearjerker movie. My cousin, on the other hand, never expected the movie to be this good. Overall, the action scenes, the comedy and the tearjerking scenes what makes this movie great.

And me and my cousin choose our top 3 Big Hero 6 characters.

At number three, It's Honey Lemon.

One of Tadashi's friend. Aside from being intelligent, she's also energetic, hyper and worries her friends. Alongside with her pink outfit, she wears around this yellow bag full of balls that has chemicals in it. One of the things I like about her is that she wears Stilettos. YES! Stilettos! Normally, I've never a nerd wearing stilettos. but her, it's just... Wow! and I shouted "OMG! She's wearing stilettos!" when she appeared on the screen.

Next is Hiro's big brother, Tadashi Hamada.
We never know how old he is. But DEAR LORD SWEET JESUS, PLEASE LET HIM BE MY BAE!!!!!! Me and my cousin confess that we have a huge crush on him. Now I don't want to spoil you about what happens to him in the movie. but he's also one of the important characters in the movie you have to look out to.

And our number one is *insert drumroll* BAYMAX!!!!

An inflatable robot that is designed to help people and Hiro, especially. When I first saw the teaser, I expected that he'll bring the laughter in the movie. Never realized that he'll also touch people's hearts. Probably a reason why everyone loves this Marshmallow-like robot.

Overall, I would give a 9 out of 10. It's good and it's awesome. and I think they deserve a 9. (Spoiler: You might want to bring some tissue, folks.)

Just Dance 2015 review

                        It's finally here!

The sixth sequel to the hit dance game, Just Dance 2015.

And I was lucky enough to play. In our place, I play Just Dance only in the arcade. And it was already installed just this Sunday. I was very happy that they finally released it to the gamers. (and I was only one who knew the dance steps to some songs.)

Anyways, so here is my review on the game.

First off, the title. Well, the title is just too "stupid" (in my own opinion) I mean, Just Dance 2015? Lame much?! I was okay with Just Dance 2014 because it sound so futuristic. but fans were so confident that the title of the sixth sequel is "Just Dance 2015". Of course I resented the idea. and everytime they say Just Dance 2015, it makes me pissed off. and I was pretty shocked that IT IS Just Dance 2015. and I thought, I guess ubisoft call it Just Dance 2015 because of the fans.

Second off, the upgrades. One of the upgrades of JD 2015 is the background and camera effects. For Example, One of the camera effects they have in the game is the zoom in and out, rotational and wide space if the character moves left or right. One of the examples of Camera Effects is Avicii's "Addicted to You", Katy Perry's "Dark Horse", Rihanna's "Diamonds", Pharell's "Happy" and Icona Pop's "I Love It." The Background effects are those edits in the game. but in this game, it's far from better from the fifth sequel. Like Pharell's "Happy", Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance", Icona Pop's "I Love It", Rixton's "Me and My Brokenheart" and John Newman's "Love Me Again".

Third off, Color of the background of Home. The color of the background of home is somewhere around blue green. But in my own opinion, I don't like it. It just doesn't scream "Just Dance".

Fourth off, the modes of the songs. In Just Dance 2014, they showed one of the new modes of the game, which is "On-Stage Mode"; a trio mode. but on JD 2015, The On-Stage mode was out but there were some songs where there are three players. Like Katy Perry's "Dark Horse", Will.I.Am's "It's my Birthday", Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance", Bobby Mcferrin's "Don't Worry, Be Happy", Zorba's "Epic Sirtaki", Ylvis' "What does the Fox say?" and Piero Umiliani's "Mahna Mahna". also, one of the modes that can't be present from the previous sequel are Versus Mode, Sweat Mode and Extreme Mode. However, the background of Extreme mode is there, but it's not called "Extreme Mode". Same with Sweat mode, but is rather called "Fitness Dance". However for the Dance Mash-Up mode, they bring back the old and original Dance Mash-Up mode, which was in Just Dance 3. meaning, the original background of the Dance Mash-Up mode and the number of players, Duet and Crew. There are new modes in the game which Community Remix and Sing-Along. The Community Remix is a mode wherein they play some recorded dances from players from around the world and of course the gamers are going to copy them. (Note: It's not related to Dance Mash-Up). While Sing-Along is not related to On-Stage, but features 3 players in a some sort of 50's theme and holding a microphone.

Lastly, the choice of songs. Somehow I can categorize each songs. There are The-Worth-It, Less-Worth-It, Not-Worth-It, and Don't-Bother. The-Worth-It are those songs that are worthed to play. Like, John Newman's "Love Me Again", Maroon 5's "Maps", Ylvis' "What Does The Fox Say?", Calvin Harris' "Summer", Avicii's "Addicted to You", Rixton's "Me and My Brokenheart", Idina Menzel's "Let It Go", Pharell's "Happy", and Run D.M.C and Aerosmith's "Walk This Way". The Less-Worth-It are the songs that are less worthed to play. Like Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance", Katy Perry's "Dark Horse" and "Birthday", Rihanna's "Diamonds", Ellie Goulding's "Burn", Iggy's "Black Widow", Ariana's "Problem", Los Del Rio's "Macarena", and Miley's "4x4". The Not-Worth-It are the not worthed to play. Like Jessie, Ariana and Nicki's "Bang, Bang", The Platter's "Only You (and You Alone)", and Will.I.Am's "It's my Birthday". and Don't-Bother are the songs that are, well, the songs that really players should try. and those are the remaining songs.

Overall, I give it a 7/10. Honestly, It's just lame.

Still 2 (Thai Horror Movie, February 2014)

The 2010 horror movie, "Tai Hong", or "Still" in English, returns this year with another scary treat.

Just like the first part, the movie revolves on 4 stories that are based in the news.

On Part 2, the titles are numbers that reflects or connects to the stories. Like "14" is the number of the floor, "16" is the number of the girl who was murdered, "15" is the number of the room and "13" is a song that became an OST for the movie.

The first part, "14", is a story of a girl who goes home late and takes the last van home. Until suddenly, the passengers in the van, including the driver, turned out to be dead and haunts her. and one of the passengers turned out to be the person that her boyfriend knows.

The second part, "16", is a story of 3 teenagers getting inside to a place full of prostitutes. Turns out, one of them was going to rescue the girl who was the delight to every men. But the remaining two, alongside with a guy who was a staff, founds out that the place was haunted. and the prostitutes, their friend and the staffs turn into zombies.

The third part, "15" is about a tattooed man who checks in to a cheap hotel. He first found out that the air conditioner was not working well. When all of sudden strange things began to happen. Suddenly, a flashback comes in where a couple fought each other. The man pushes the woman in the stairs, thus resulting her to die. and puts her in the air conditioning vent.

The last part, "13", is about guy, who was a monk before, confesses to his friends that her girlfriend died-which technically it was him who killed her. and seeks help to them to bury her. Suddenly, the ghost of his girlfriend appears and kills his friends and him.

The movie consists of sex, violence and gore. but on the lighter side, the movie really gives a barrel of laughs to the audience. Also, it's a star-studded movie. The first part stars Baifern who was the ugly duckling turned princess in the movie, "Crazy Little Thing Called Love". One of the casts of the second part is the comedian Jazz Chuanchuen who appeared on the 2013 romance comedy movie, "My Name is Love". The actor from the controversial gay movie, "Bangkok Love Story", Chaiwat Thongsaeng, guests in the third part as the murderer. Lastly, the guy from the hit 2004 Horror movie, "Shutter" also guests in this movie.

The movie is a bit worth watching for. If y'all have the guts to watch the movie, don't dare vomit.

I also rate this movie 6 out of 10. Completely funny and gory but not enough to satisfy me.

V/H/S/2 (2013)

The sequel of one of the most talked about Horror Movie in 2012, V/H/S. This time, more horrifying, stomach-wrenching, and fantastically and disgustingly good.

Like the first part, the movie is all about found short horror VHS tapes. The only thing different in this sequel, is that there are only 4 short films.

A bit unlike the first movie, the movie begins where two people named Larry and Ayesha who breaks in to a student's dorm and found VHS tapes.

The title of the four VHS tapes are: Phase I Clinical Trials, A Ride in The Park, Safe Haven, and Slumber Party Alien Abduction.

"Phase I Clinical Trials" tells about a man who got a strange eye after an accident. Soon, he founds out that ghosts roam around his house.

"A Ride in the Park" is about a cyclist who got bitten by a zombie in the park, then turned into a zombie and attacks people in the park.

"Safe Haven" is about a group of Indonesian news crew who enters an Indonesian cult. Not knowing what danger is about to face them.

Lastly, "Slumber Party Alien Abduction" is about a group of kids having fun while the 'rents aren't around. Until, Aliens comes in and abducts them.

"Tape 49" on the, other hand, tells about what happens after Ayesha watches them. The movie ends where Larry and Ayesha dies and the guy in the footage that Ayesha found in the laptop gives a thumbs up in the camera.

So here's my comment on the 4 short films. "Phase I Clinical Trials" gave me this shock factor, which I also found in other Horror Movies. and honestly, the most boring one of them all. "A Ride in the Park" reminds me a bit of "Warm Bodies", excluding the romantic stuff. So far, it was the only short film that made me laugh. Also, the zombie thing is "too fictional" for me. "Safe Haven" for me was outright disturbing. The gore, the scare factor and the twist in the end wasn't that bad. And "Slumber Party Alien Abduction" was like the R-16 version of "Aliens in the Attic" and I think it's lame that this became part of the movie.

I'm giving this movie an 8 out of 10. Comparing to the first movie (although I haven't watched it yet), this one was close to perfection.

Maleficent (2014)

There is one thing I could say about this movie... Perfect.

The movie is so perfect... every one loved the movie. I mean, yesterday, before the movie was starting, everyone was waiting outside.

Angelina was perfect for it. If you want to know about the movie, I'll tell you but not every bit.

Okay, so, you're thinking that the movie is a remake of the 1959 Disney classic movie, Sleeping Beauty. Well, yes... and no.

Yes, because some of it is similar to the animated movie. and No, because the story revolves around Maleficent. and since it revolves around her, you're guessing that the movie will tell the story of Maleficent from the very beginning. Yes, and also the bitter part of it that it relates me the most.

and lastly, if you're guessing that since the movie is a remake that it will happen the same thing to Maleficent what happened at the animated movie, well, there's a bigger plot twist in it.

If you want to watch it, bring your friends or family to watch the movie. It's so good, you'll have a hangover over it.

and oh, by the way, I went fangirl when they played Lana's "Once Upon A Dream". Her song was so perfect, it really matches to the movie and to Maleficent, not to Aurora.

and since I loved it, I'll give it a 10.

Last Summer (Thai Horror Movie, June 2013)

It's been a long time since I haven't watch a movie. then this movie came along and was shown in our country, I know I just had to watch.

According to some articles I have read, this is a 4-in-1 movie. Same story, but different plots. also, it's the first movie that Talent 1 studio has made.

The 1st part of the movie is where Singh invites his friends, Joy, a young star and his love, Garn, and Meen, Joy's best friend, to go to the beach. They runaway and had some fun. However, things didn't end well. Somehow, Joy ended up getting asthma from the drink that boys gave to her and she died. Singh and Garn dispose's her body. As for Meen, she cries for help. As Singh and Garn tries to throw Joy away, Joy's body haunts them as Singh folds her in her luggage. Unfortunately, they died... except for Meen.

The 2nd part is the aftermath of Singh, Garn and Joy's death. However for Meen, she was still alive and became the witness of what happened. As she goes back to school, people mourn for Joy's death and made a memorial just for her. But as for Meen, she takes Joy's spotlight, became center of attention, like Joy, and got the scholarship she wanted. but somehow, Meen became delusional as she sees writings like "Liar" in the wall and the bathroom. She found out it all hoax. but Joy's spirit haunts her. thus, the revelation comes out that it was Meen who killed her in the beach house. Meen ended up falling from rooftop of their school and drop from stage.

The 3rd part is Joy's little brother, Ting, and her mother. As months pass by from Joy's death, Ting's mother still mourns for Joy  and keeps the things that Joy possesses whereas she didn't pay attention to her son, Ting, who was an athlete at school, The same school where Singh, Garn, Meen and Joy attended. He got the attention he want but soon to realize that his mom was in it to make his son win by bribery. Both of them made a deal that if he won, they'll leave their home because Ting knows that her Sister's spirit is in their house. Unfortunately, Joy broke Ting's leg. They were about to move when an unfortunate incident happened. The electricity went out but his mom found out that Ting destroyed his sister's life because of Jealousy. and that's when Joy comes out and haunts her brother while she plays recorded tapes on her mom's room. Ting escape from her sister and barged in his mother's room. Suddenly, a video tape of Joy plays where she was still little and dancing like a ballerina. The final tape shows of Little Joy bidding farewell to them while she dances away.

The epilogue or the final part of the movie is the days that Joy was still alive. The days where Joy got the part of a movie, meets Singh and became his girlfriend, Meen makes a promise that she and Joy will still be friends forever, Singh bids farewell, Joy crying when her mother found out that she was stripping in front of a boy, who was Singh, she posts a status of getting a suicide, where Singh invites her for to go the beach, and leaving the house with the suitcase.

Overall, the movie talks about Jealousy, Friendship, Love and Truth. I would rate this movie a 7 out of 10.
